It's that time of the year again – Mercury will be going retrograde from June 26th – July 21st, 2013! Whether you're an astrology believer or not, Mercury retrograde has become a global mainstream terminology and point of reference. Quite frankly, it can be a frustrating time when all types of communication slow down, defunct, and lose momentum. Historically for centuries – presidents, royalty and captains of industry recognized Mercury retrograde and took note.
During this time; backup computers a few days prior to the retrograde, check reservations and give yourself more time to get to the airport, expect delays in phone, snail mail and email messages, try not to sign on the dotted line (if you have to – read the fine print and opt for a renegotiation clause), and don't breakup with your sweetheart while in this phase either (you might regret it after)!
So, what does this mean for you and your pet? Animals pick up on the energy in their environments, absorb and react to nuances in situations. If you’re buying pet food at the grocery store and the computerized register breaks down while checking out (definitely a Mercury retro thing), you can expect your animal's feeding schedule to be off. Your pet will naturally be picking up on the retrograde, with or without any influences from you.
Here are some peculiar ways your pet(s) can act during the Mercury retrograde:
Mercury retrograde might make it seem like your dog has two personalities.
Doggie Disconnect:
- Every time you tell your dog to sit, your dog decides to rollover instead (and vice-a-versa).
- You take your dog to the dog run, and your usually active canine won't run – and decides to take a long nap in the grass.
- Vocal dogs become silent, and quiet dogs become yappy!
- Your territorial canine can't be bothered with their favorite toy anymore – but don't get rid of it (the toy!), remember this is a passing phase.
This cat looks to the stars wondering what has gotten into her!
Cat-ankerous Kitty:
- Your indoor cat suddenly decides to become an outdoor cat – escaping through the open back patio door while you're not looking.
- Your finicky feline won't eat the food that took you two years to find – even though last week they couldn't have been more satisfied.
- Although your cat usually sleeps at the end of your bed every night, now they hide and leave you worried without any sleep.
- You have absolutely no idea why your cat keeps meowing at you, and none of your regular appeasing systems work!
The beauty of knowing that Mercury is retrograde, is also knowing it won't last forever, and will be over in no time! Just remain as patient as possible, be Zen and even then count to ten … your pets will love you for it.
